Aahhh, what a beautiful, crispy and sparkling landscape we have outside our office. Everything blinks and shines upon you. Wouldn’t it be nice to expand that feeling to our good old CRT monitors.

Here we are, working our ass of to release the single player missions … but! We cant forget about the multi-player as well! That’s why we did create some snowy plains and slippery cubes. Four new levels have been added to the multi-player mode all in a new snowy theme. Their not available for download YET. The new beta version will be released on-line soon though. Stay tuned and check out the sneak preview of the new decors.

After some busy weeks at work we finally managed to spend some more time on developing Smash Battle. As said earlier, we begun developing the single player mode and fixed some minor bugs in the multi player mode. Also a new item has appeared! The Yellow L will summon a large laser from the sky hitting all the other players. First it strikes the player with the most HP then the second and so on.

It really give’s an extra dimension in the multi player. Just give it a try Further on, we got really stuck on designing enemy’s for the single player mode. As announced a few posts back, the little chicken is already in place. We decided to stay with the chicks and therefor we made some improvements and additions. The first level boss is there and soon we will be able to play the first 10 missions. A new release will be out soon so stay tuned!

Sneak preview of a single player mission

I’ve been announcing on my blog that we are busy working on the single player. We’re still working on the design, but I’ve also created a test mission in the development version.

I’ll give you guys a sneak preview in the from of two screenshots: One of the test mission and one of the mission selection screen. Both are still in alpha and are bound to change over time.

Since I could not find a nice retro wallpaper for my PC at work, I decided to make one my own. Of course I used Smash Battle as the subject. For now I just made a 1280×1024 wallpaper since its for personal use only. If you like it and need another size just tell me and I’ll poop one out for ya. For the wannabees here it is:

Ahhhh finally, we’ve reached a point where were satisfied with the multi-player mode! So what’s next? We think it’s about time we make an single player mission mode. One problem, or actually lots of problems! How do you make up a story line, witch character plays where, who’s stats do you use and most important, who are the enemies! All options are open so if you’ve got any idea about the enemies please let us know

For now we’ve created an evil, annoying, irritating, little chicken. Only the looks in his eye’s makes you want to CRUSH it! Oh well … you can! Check the little bastard out.

Character Sprites

At this point all playable characters are colleagues of ours. Creating them was really fun! It’s incredibly difficult to get the characteristics and expressions in these low res faces. Until now all worked out really well. Here I’ll post the sprites of the characters used in the game. You can create your own one if you feel like it. I suggest you try to keep the animation as basic as possible since the frame’s in the game are based on these movements. Creating Characters can be a time consuming job but its well worth it! Hope you enjoy them.
